How does botulinum toxin work?
Neuromodulators such as Dysport, are wrinkle relaxing injections of botulinum toxin type A. They work by blocking the signal between the nerves and the muscle, preventing the muscle movements that make these wrinkles develop. Having botulinum toxin treatment benefits your skin in two ways. First, it makes your wrinkles look less obvious. Second, reduced action from these muscles slows down the wrinkles’ progression.
Facial expressions often cause lines known as dynamic wrinkles to develop around the eyes, forehead and mouth, regardless of whether you’re smiling or frowning. Neuromodulators are designed to relax the muscles responsible for repetitive facial movements, effectively smoothing expression lines.

Typically facial injectable treatments can last up to 4 months, and you can have around 3 to 4 treatments each year.
Cosmetic injectables are conveniently administered in-office, here at our Taupo practice. Based on a facial analysis and a discussion of your concerns, we will work with you to decide the best approach to rejuvenate your dento-facial health. The product will then be delivered conservatively to the planned treatment sites via an ultra-fine needle. Most treatment sessions are completed in as little as 15 to 30 minutes. Mild swelling is possible immediately after injections, but there is generally zero downtime required following treatment.
